((This is mine and Cupcake's private Ice Crystal RP.))

The first sign of the Heat was ten days ago. A little more than a week. Each day had progressively gotten warmer... until the snow and ice began to melt and the land of Glaciem no longer knew the peaceful cold. Now... now it only knows the destruction and suffering brought on by what we Ice Crystals call "the Heat." The people of Glaciem have begun to lose their abilities, including Princess Heart and I. 

I found myself asking the question: Why is this happening to us? 

The truth is, none of us know. Not even the Princess. And that terrifies me.

"Open the doors to the Ice Castle!" a loud, booming, thunderous voice sounded from beyond the castle walls. I had been sitting in the throne room, trying to relax and keep cool, as the throne room was colder than the other rooms, despite the Heat having taken hold of the inside of the castle, when that voice made me rise to my feet and rush to the doors. Before I could yank them open, a brute force slammed them open, practically knocking me down. I yelped and recoiled, drawing back a couple of steps. In front of me, towered six Nightguards, each armed with swords and other weapons, their bodies covered in silver-blue armor. They parted as I watched them, making way for someone. They skittered off to the sides, standing three in a line, on each side of the doors. Walking between them, was the unmistakable form of the Ice Vampire King, Nick. And behind him, I could see many other Night Creatures, as well as the blazing red shapes of Firebrands. Ignitus was walking behind Nick, his tail waving behind him. 

"Hello, Icecream." Nick came up to me, giving me a soft smile as he looked me over. I could tell he was silently making sure I was alright. 

I nodded in response. "Hey, Nick."

Ignitus came up to stand beside the Ice Vampire, who glared at him and moved off to the side a bit, clearly not wanting to be beside the Firebrand Prince. 

"How are you and the Princess?" Ignitus asked. 

I sighed. "I'm alright... as for the Princess, you'll have to ask her yourself. She should be coming, especially after that noisy Nightguard."

Nick chuckled. "Yes, he can be a bit... loud." Behind him, the Nightguard snorted, however kept his place near the door. "Let us wait on Miss Royalty, then." With that, Nick and Ignitus started further into the throne room.

I had never knew it could get so hot. Especially in Glaciem, where heat was never a problem.

The heat swept inout of no where almost two weeks ago. At first, I thought it was a minor heat wave coming in, that wouldn't do much damage to the kingdom. I was far from right. As the days went, the heat only grew stronger, causing other ice crystals and I to grow weak. We are even losing our powers, causing great weakness for us. People are confused, wondering how this massive heat wave came into Glaciem.

I was pulled out of my thoughts, when I heard the castle doors slammed open and a fimilar yet still annoying voice to me. When I was about to get up, Nick and Ignitus had entered the throne room. "Hello, Nick and Ignitus." I greeted and bowed. "What brings you two here?" I asked.

Nick and Ignitus both fixed their gazes on the Princess, both bowing in turn to her. Ignitus straightened after a moment, opened his mouth to speak--and faltered, finding his words lost as Nick straightened and looked at him, the Ice Vampire King's red eyes narrowed.

"Funny story, actually," Nick replied, turning his head to look at Princess Heart. "Here I was, minding my own business last night, when suddenly, things became very heated. Imagine my surprise when my Kingdom suddenly became blasted with some sort of heat wave. I was even more surprised to find out that Glaciem had also been attacked by this heat, as well as seemingly every other Kingdom."

"Yes, although my people seem to be doing well," Ignitus added in, a smug grin spreading his lips.

Nick sneered. "Of course yours are, you Fireass."

I blinked, staring at both royalties as they began to argue. This was why I hated them together. They didn't know when to stop. My mind, in the midst of the Prince and King's argument, somehow processed that the other Kingdoms had also been ravaged by the Heat. I wasn't able to let my mind think anymore, however. Nick's shout drew me from my thoughts and I couldn't help but to flinch.

"Alright, enough!" I exclaimed, causing both Ignitus and Nick to look at me in surprise. I rarely raised my voice. "Nick, you didn't fully answer Princess Heart's question. Why are you both here?"

Nick scratched his chin, one lip curled up in a smirk, the tip of a pointed fang showing. "Ah, right... Well..." He let his words drift off as he glanced at the Princess. And then, with a light chuckle, as if he couldn't quite believe what he was about to say, he added: "Me and Fire-boy here are here to help Glaciem and Miss Royalty, here."

"So everyone's kingdoms in the area has been affected by this heat wave?" I asked to half myself and the two princes. I threw the question aside for the moment though. "Well, thank you for helping us than, Nick and Ignitus. Our kingdom is in a weak state, and I hope with your help the kingdom isnt as vulnerable." Infact, we were alot more weaker. No one could use their powers, and I keep getting weaker by the second with this heat.

"Of course, Your Highness," Ingnitus said gently, dipping his head respectfully. "Nick and I are pleased to help you and your wonderful kingdom. I must ask, though; do you still happen to have the room that I stayed in before? Since me and my guards will be residing here in Glaciem, I will need a place to sleep."

Nick said nothing and wandered around the throne room, seeming to know where he was going to sleep. He smirked slightly to himself, glad to be back in Glaciem once more. Although, he wasn't happy about the circumstances that had brought him here: why couldn't he have been brought here on a holiday, to surprise Icecream? Speaking of... He turned his head, casting a glance in the lovely Ice Crystal's direction. Immediately, he snorted; she wasn't even looking at him! She had her flame-orange eyes on Ignitus. "That little red-furred pain in my ass," he grumbled to himself, being sure to keep his voice quiet. Narrowing his red eyes, the Ice Vampire King looked away, gritting his teeth. 

"Unfortunately, the room you had is being used right now by another Ice Crystal. They were effected greatly by heat wave, which caused them to grow weak and get ill. We had them stay in that room to keep an eye on them, but I can give you another room, if that's alright with you, Ignitus." I said. 

"Harvey?" I called out for him. He couldn't of had been far, and since the castle walls were partially melted, you could hear anyone's voice through the walls. Harvey darted into the room, bowing to Nick and Ignitus respectingly before coming up to me. "How can I help ya, Princess?" He asked. "Can you prepare rooms for both Nick and Ignitus, please?" "Sure thing!" He eagerly replied and darted off to do what he was told. I do hope there is enough rooms for everyone.

Ignitus remained quiet as Harvey came into the throne room and sprinted off again to find he and Nick rooms. It didn't bother him that his room was being used by an ill Ice Crystal; in fact, he felt bad for the creature, which was a first. The Fire Brand Prince opened his mouth to speak, to see if there was anything that Heart needed help with in the castle, but was cut short. A shout erupted from the doors of the Ice Castle, clearly a Nightguard. The booming voice was a dead giveaway. 

"WE'RE BEING ATTACKED!"

Nick had already turned and was hurrying outside, his hand at his sword. It was kind of ironic; here he was, serving a kingdom that he had once mocked. Now, it seemed, he had made it his duty to protect it and its people, even the Princess, as much as that thought made him want to gag.

Icecream gasped, watching as Nick headed outside. Without thinking, she followed after him.

Ignitus opened his mouth yet again, trying to say that going outside would be a bad idea, but failed to get the words out. He looked at Heart, worry on his face. "Princess, you should stay inside," he said, hoping she'd listen.  

The words, we're being attacked, boomed through my head once they were yelled out by a Nightguard. As Ignitus told me to stay inside, I wasnt going to. My kingdom and people were in danger, and I couldnt just stay in here doing nothing. "I'm sorry, Ignitus." I said. "Even though im weak right now, I must help my people." I quickly grabbed my sword from my sheath, and hurried outside 

Ignitus sighed, watching as Heart took off, without so much as a second thought. If she was having any, she certainly didn't show it. She really was devoted to her kingdom and people, and the Fire Brand Prince admired her greatly for that. But he also worried about her, and not just because of his feelings for her. He understood how difficult it must be, to lead such a large kingdom under so much stress and chaos, which was why he had vowed to help her any way he could. In case things got out of control, he unsheathed his sword and followed after her, ready to defend her with his life.

But even defenses could be broken by a single arrow, one shocking blow that could devastate everything.

Outside, the guards from both kingdoms, Eternalus and Kasai, were under the assault of two civilians from the village: a young boy who appeared to be in his late teens, and an even younger boy, about eight or nine. By the looks of them, they seemed to be brothers. Both had a head full of curly, white hair, and both had freckles on their faces. The oldest carried a katana, most likely a weapon given to him by his father or some other member of his family, while the youngest had nothing, just his small hands, balled into fists. The oldest was swinging his katana at the guards, an act of severe threat. He'd even managed to stab through one of the guards' armor, piercing his shoulder. He was screaming, clearly not himself; him and his brother both looked terrible; sweat clung to their flushed faces, and their eyes were dilated beyond measure.

The heat wave was doing more than simply taking powers and making the Ice Crystals ill: it was driving them insane, to the point where their behaviors were completely turned around. This wasn't good at all. 

Slipping away from the guards and keeping out of reach, the oldest looked around, his green eyes switching from Icecream, to Nick, and finally to Heart. Then, suddenly, with a deafening scream, he lunged toward her. 

SHINK.

A flash of silver and red, and something whipped out, catching the boy in the chest before he could reach the Ice Crystal Princess. A sword, lodged deeply in the young Ice Crystal's chest; holding it, stood Ignitus, looking grim and horrified at what he'd just done. 

Blood dripped to the hot ground as the Fire Brand ripped his weapon from the boy's chest. The adolescent collapsed shortly after, trembling and trying to breathe. The light died from his eyes after a moment, and he went still.

"Take him away," Ignitus said, his voice low and unusually husky. Doing as told, the Nightguard and slightly wounded Fireguard gripped the now crying young brother to the deceased, and dragged him away from the scene. They would treat him as best they could, though as bad as he looked, he probably wouldn't make it through the night. The Fire Brand Prince stared, horrified, at the boy he'd killed to protect Heart. 

The events that unfolded flashed by real quick. Two Ice Crystals tried to kill, but ended up in bad results. The Ice Crystals seemed to have lose their senses from this terrible heat wave, making the kingdom even more rough to handle. I sighed out, knowing it'd be hard to talk to the parents of the deceased Ice Crystal and insane brother of him. 

I looked over at Ignitus, who had saved my life. I could tell he probably felt terrible for having to kill the Ice Crystal. I rested my hand on his shoulder lightly. "You did the right thing, Ignitus. Thank you for saving my life. There was nothing we could of had done for him if he gone insane." I said, trying to make the Fire Brand Prince not feel as bad for what he did. It did make me wonder now, how many more were effected by this? It makes me hope I don't lose my senses now.

Horrified, Nick stared at the deceased. His eyes were stretched wide, and he looked as though he was going to be sick. For a moment, he didn't move, too shocked by the whole event to do much other than simply gape at the lifeless boy. Then, with a sudden outburst of rage, he raced toward Ignitus and seized him by the collar of his shirt, yanking him away from Heart. "What the hell is wrong with you?!" he yelled, throwing the Firebrand Prince to the ground before he could react. "We're supposed to be saving lives, not taking them!"

"Saving lives?" the Firebrand Prince spat, now laying on the ground, glaring up at Nick. "And what do you suppose I was doing? Her majesty was in danger. I did the only thing I could." 

"But you killed an innocent child in the process! ..." Nick tried to snap back, but his voice failed near the end, and a choked sob escaped him. Swallowing the lump in his throat, he retreated a couple of steps, and disappeared into the castle.

Slowly, Ignitus rose to his feet, ignoring the dust on his clothing. He cast a glance around at the guards, feeling embarrassed about the whole situation. After looking at Heart, he turned to the lifeless boy. "I'll take care of this... Princess, please go back inside," he said over his shoulder.

Icecream had already went back inside, following Nick.

I sighed as more events kept unfolding in front of me. This heat wave has been causing unfortunate event after unfortunate event. "Alright, thank you." I said to Ignitus, and headed back inside the castle. I just hope this heat wave clears up, than maybe all the terrible events will stop.

Night fell upon Glaciem, the sky painted black. Few stars twinkled, and those that did seemed to flicker more slowly each time, as if the heat was too much for even them to handle. Even at night, Glaciem was a disaster. And it was only going to get worse. Inside the Ice Castle, however, the heat was somewhat more bearable, but it was only a matter of time before even the slightest ounce of cold air would be consumed by warmth.

Quick footsteps sounded in the hallways, drifting off the walls and creating a slight echo. Loud noises coming from the kitchen had alerted Icecream to a possible skirmish, and she was making her way toward it as fast as she could. When she entered the kitchen, Icecream found herself staring at Nick, laying face-down on the floor. Nearby at the table, Ignitus stood, his red eyes narrowed at the limp form in front of him, but he quickly changed the tone of his gaze upon seeing the young Ice Crystal. "He asked for it."

"What did you do to him?" Icecream asked, rushing to Nick's side.

"He got drunk. I think the heat started to get to him, and he couldn't handle it anymore, so he tried to lessen the agony a bit. Afterwards, he picked a fight with me, and well..." the Fire Prince gestured to Nick's unmoving body. "I apologize for not letting him punch my lights out." With that, Ignitus turned and exited the kitchen.

As gently as she could manage, Icecream rolled Nick over so she could see his face. The Ice Vampire King looked as if he were out cold, but at her touch, his eyes fluttered open, and he let out a sickening laugh, which sounded more like a gurgle than anything. "Oh, God, Nick..." Icecream gasped, trying to help him stand. Nick nearly toppled over as soon as he was on his feet, but quickly slumped against the young Ice Crystal, who began to assist him in leaving the kitchen.

Icecream did her best to lead Nick to her room, but a sudden groan caused her heart to leap into her chest, and she brought her attention to her former-lover's facial region. Nick looked terrible - he was sweating, a grimace of pain etched onto his lips. And then, all at once, he screamed. A horrible, agony-filled scream that echoed through the halls, and made Icecream's ears ache. Panic flooded through her. Nick's legs went out on him, and if it wasn't for Icecream holding onto him, he would've hit the floor. Slowly, she lay him down, and held him in her arms, terrified. "Nick! Oh, God. Nick! Look at me!" 

He tried to do as she begged so desperately, and did so for a mere split-second, before he couldn't any longer, and let his red gaze drop. His chest and stomach both rose and fell with quick, painful breaths, which caused him to wheeze. He didn't look drunk anymore, just pain-stricken and sick. He tried to speak, but all that escaped him was another gurgle, similar to when he had laughed, but far worse.

Unable to stand it anymore, Icecream did the only thing she could think of. "Someone, help!" she screamed.

To say that Nick was ill - well, that would be an understatement.

Sleeping seemed impossible for me tonight. The heat was one factor that made it very uncomfortable to sleep, feeling the hot air made me sweat and made my mouth dry the entire night. All I could was just stare up at the ceiling, thinking about all that had happened that day. My kingdom was falling, and I had no control over it. Seeing my people lose their will to live to insanity was very stressing for me. Explaining to the parents of the first ones who fell to insanity ripped at my heart when I saw those parents burst into tears about their children, and comforting each other as much as they could. The imagery of them replayed in my mind several times, as if it were haunting me. I sighed and attempted to try to fall asleep again.

Right when I closed my eyes though, they immediately opened right up when I heard a scream, and than heard Icecream calling for help. I immediately got of bed and grabbed my sword from my sheath on the bed post, and dashed out of my room. Running down the hallway, I found Icecream holding a very sick looking Nick in her arms. I went over to them, sat my sword down to the side of me on the floor, and kneeled down. "What happened?" I asked quickly and somewhat panicked. I sighed on the inside, knowing more and more uneventful things would happen tonight.

Icecream looked up at the sound of approaching footsteps, and at the sight of Heart, she gave a sigh of slight relief. But no amount of relief would take away the terror that gripped her heart. Suddenly, with a fearful glance down at Nick, words poured out of her all at once in a frightened plea. "T-the heat's doing something to him! I thought he'd be fine, because he's not like us. But... but... Please, help me get him up. We have to get him to my room. I'll explain more later."

Nick barely moved in Icecream's arms, and though he was aware of Heart's presence, as he had heard her voice, he couldn't look at her. His breaths grew ragged and more painful by the second, and another groan of pain escaped him. He wanted to apologize to the sweet girl that was holding him in her arms, but was unable to speak. Whenever he'd try, no words would come out, just a sickening gurgle. Perhaps he had made a mistake in coming to help the Ice Crystals and their innocent kingdom.

I sighed out. "Alright, let's hurry than." I said, and as careful as I could grabbed one of Nick's arms, putting it over my neck. I stood hope, holding the ill vampire prince on my left shoulder. "Hurry and grab his other arm for me." I said quickly.

Doing as told, Icecream quickly slipped her arm underneath Nick's, and rose to her feet, helping the Ice Vampire up as she did so. Nick groaned in protest, clearly in a great deal of pain, and did his best to keep from screaming. His insides felt as though they were burning, and his head throbbed as if it were about to explode. But as Icecream started to move, he bit back his agony and misery, and shuffled with her and Heart.

"Once we get him to my room, we'll need something to keep him cool," she said. "I won't ask you to use your powers, Princess. You need all the strength you can get. But if he gets a fever, he... he could..." Icecream couldn't make herself say it. The idea of Nick dying was frightening and it made her heart grow heavy in her chest. She quickly blinked away developing tears, and kept moving, casting worried glances at the ill Ice Vampire King every few seconds.
